New Dior Hightops and Kanye Vuitton Lows and Metronomy, Holy Ghost and Hot Chip Live

Hey kids, i got back to Aus last tueday and today is pretty much my first day off work. i didnt even tell my boss i was coming home early and he has already raped me for all im good for. But welcome back to tradehooks, where we post a bit.

I have been saying for a long time that pure black hightops are the bomb, but no one has made one that has been this pant-moistening. part of the new Dior Homme range these are slick black and unique. get some for me someone, for a sweet $945 USD. Also the Louis Vuitton Don, got together with Louis Vuitton for some 2k9 sneakers.

They be pretty hot too. i think he got the idea for the collar around the back from the movie dune. checkout highsnobiety.com for more details on all the sneakers.

In other news, the whole tradehooks family and extended family got invited up to Hyde Park Barracks to see Metronomy play last Thursday night as part of the Sydney Festival. Pivot, the band who played before, sounded like a half hour tight intro to their own set, which never came. a half hour electronic wall of boredom meltdown. Then these guys stepped out
When metronomy came out, it was a relief to most of us, who needed a break from the continuous round stream to and from the becks bar, serving only becks, a decent bier. Metronomy rock 3 keyboards from what i remember, and have touch night lights on their shirts, which through careful choreography turn on at certain points and entertain the masses. their set was tight, nothing new not on 'nights out', but i could be wrong.me and absentees destroyed the majority of a bottle of bombay in the arvo, and the becks bar had a new fave group of customers (the tradehooks family). but all up, metronomy were fuckin sick, they are a band you really got to listen to if you havent, and go see them live and give them some AUD love.

Part of the tradehooks family went to see hot chip, supported brilliantly by holy ghost!
holy ghost played a set i could have listened to all night, a set alot of djs could learn from. but they were so good. the majority of the crowd turned up not long before hot chip started, so no great movements on the d-floor, except these two crazy kids in diamonte jackets.

hot chip played a great set, stuff from all the albums and i took a great pic. they were tight as, and had the crowd well revved. i would have liked to have seen what they were like at bdo.
I found this sweet holy ghost! Michael Jackson edit over at blouse

Delorean

Last year, every now and again, i would lay my hands on some remixes by Delorean. I would listen to one, love it, i’d hear another, love that too.

I realised that EVERY remix i would hear was great. Like ‘Breakbot’ great.

Recommended listening conditions:

  • Sunday late afternoon
  • Driving on the Highway on your way home
  • Preferably travelling at 88mph, safely.
  • Just after buying maccas for the drive home.

REMIXES:

Lemonade - Big Weekend (Delorean Remix)

Mystery Jets - Half In Love With Elizabeth (Delorean Remix)

The Big Pink - Too Young to Love (Delorean Remix)

Ahhhh shiiiit

So I was cruising through Sydney, with a new pair of jeans in hand, and not a care in the world, humming along to some oldskool Beastie Boys shit... when I spied through the window of a store, some silver kicks.  Now those who know me, know that im a pretty big fan of most fresh kicks... However this wasn't any store.. it was Hugo Boss, and these silver kicks looked pretty fucking similar to some Supra shoes that dropped over 2 years ago... and have been refined a couple of times.

Here we have "Boss" by Hugo Boss

vs.

Supra Skytop

Dior also had some silver/gold shoes a little while ago. The point is, Hugo Boss need to lift their shit. Stick to suits/smoking-jackets/business shirts.... You don't see Chad Muska @ Supra trying to make the ultimate corporate power suit do you?. Because up close those "Boss" kicks were not worth the $600 price tag.

In other news Metronomy made a cool film clip to their track 'A thing for me'

Rant Over.

Metronomy gets the remix treatment from Anoraak

©2007-2008 ~shecro
Hey yall
Its selecta reporting from the Indian subcontinent. Since i arrived here on the 21st this country has become one of the 20 most dangerous in the world. With a statistic of more people being killed by Jihadis in the last 12 months than anywhere else in the world. Pretty nuts.

My companero is leaving early because of this fact, but i still have work to do. ie listen to as much bad bollywood music as possible, beat konducta style.

ANyway, to the music. I just logged on today for the first time in a while and really needed to get a fat hit of some metronomy beats. and turns out anoraak gave them the RMX treatment. metronomy are by far my chocie for the best group in the world in the last 12 months. Heartbreaker is amazing, as well as every other track off the album. they are coming to Australia for a string of dates mid January, including the Sydney festival, which i will unfortunately miss out on.

HEy to everyone back home, miss you all

ANyways, here it is

Bloc Party - Hordern Pavillion 24th November

thanks for the pic pete

Bloc Party were amazing!

It started with another boring Van She performance, they played their usual set and I'm pretty sure the only time the crowd cheered was when they said "You guys excited to see Bloc Party?". They looked bored, they sounded bored.

Then Bloc Party owned the stage like nothing else. They played everyone's favourite tracks, even right from their very first release. Flux, Banquet, Ares, Hunting for Witches, Halo all got everybody jumping and humping.
Except one,
I somehow expected more from Mercury, maybe it was just me, but i wanted to see something happen, like gorillas or something.

Ares was the highlight and the final song they played, started with Kele saying "Lets give you what you want".

no track for this post, just the new architecture in helsinki vid for "that beep":

Bang Gang Deejays at onefiveone

If you're having trouble reading club posters, it says Bang Gang Deejays are playing at onefiveone on the 22nd of Nov...this weekend!

They are currently on their national compilation cd launch tour, playing all sorts of venues. I just got my hands on this compilation, but didn't get the sweat towel with it so i was a little dissapointed, especially because i ran to JBHifi and was extremely sweaty at the counter.

Here is a little mix that will make you want to buy as well.

One thing, when they say Bang Gang they only mean the doom and the hoodrat. No Ajax brothers.

Kato isn't playing but this was blog worthy.

Ranch Del Liberteeno

Thats right, those crazy kids behind liberteen ranch, havent even washed the fake blood/Tranterco's sweat off yet.. but they have popped up and decided to have a party 2 weeks after their last, rather than 2 months.. Great for partying.. not so great for livers..

I didn't make it to the last one... (stupid exam season) but from all reports it was crazier than a night on the coke with keith richards. Halloween brings out the best/worst in people.

This time around we have:

  • Cassette Kids - They are launching a mini-album (whatever the fuck that is) called We Are, the tracks sound pretty cool and "You Take It" has been getting a bit of airplay from JJJ which is cool. They have that indie, guitar driven, girl on vocals kind of feel, and apparently alot of energy on stage which should be fun to see/get drunk too.

Listen to their tracks on their myspace

  • Pomomofo - I hadn't heard too much about these guys other than a few tracks however on investigating their myspace.. i like their stuff even more.. especially the toxic avenger remix of Island. They are touring their new ep In super VGA.. me likes. Can't wait to see them.. potential highlight of the night.
This is the band doing their best Alt Joker's

  • Spook - Wollongong's hardest working DJ, you know him ... he plays at everything and usually gets the kids dancing.. he doesn't love alot of our posts.

  • Obama Bin Laden - No idea who this crazy kid is.... couldn't find the artist on myspace... hopefully its a b2b set of Osama vs. Obama. Update:This masked raider has appeared at ranchs before.. however has split with his previous collaborator... watch this space for more Obama Ben Laden news.

  • Tradehooks DJ's - i.e. us... we are opening the night.. complete Ed Banger discography. SRSLY we will be dropping a bit of everything.. old... new.... really old... then getting drunk as.
Hit the Liberteen Ranch myspace for guest list spots... save you $5... which can buy you 1 beer. or 2 soft drinks. (that might be untrue)

Ah yeh.. its on friday the 14th too... exams are over.. your liver has potentially had 2 weeks off... PUNISH IT.

skillz.
